Frequently Asked Questions

What is a smart home?

A smart home uses connected devices and automation to make daily life more convenient, secure, and energy efficient.

Why type of systems do you work with?

If it's smart home tech we love to get our hands on it. Typical applications are smart lighting, home access (smart locks and garage doors), water management (leak detection and automated shutoff), Entertainment (Smart TVs and Audio), Video doorbells and cameras, and novel automations.

How does installation work?

Most smart home devices are retrofit, meaning they can set up without too much hassle. We'll install the physical device and do the more technical stuff - like network set up, device pairing, and automation configuration.

Do you install devices I've already purchased?

Yes! We're happy to install and integrate devices you've already bought. Need that Ring doorbell installed? We've got you covered.

Can I use Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit?

Absolutely. We help you pick the right platform that fits with your lifestyle and integrate devices accordingly.

How does smart home tech benefit retirees?

Automation and voice control can greatly benefit people with lessening mobility. Imagine lights turning on when you walk in a room, or using voice control because getting up is difficult. It also gives caretakers and family members peace of mind. We can install motion sensors and presence sensors with fall detection capanbility.

Why is local control better than cloud?

Local control increases speed, security and future-proofing. We prioritize it wherever possible.

Do I need a strong WiFi signal?

Yes, your smart home will work best with a strong, well-designed home network. Even devices that do not directly use WiFi will leverage your backbone. We can help with this! We can deploy a mesh WiFi system that provides coverage across your home so you can maximize speed and minimize dead zones

What is DNS and why does it matter?

DNS is like the internet's phonebook. In most home networks it goes unnoticed, but it plays a critical role in telling your devices how to find websites. By using a family-friendly DNS service, you can secure your data and protect your kids from stumbling onto unsavory content.

Will you manage my home network for me?

We offer home WiFi installations and Family DNS Filtering. Once set up, it should be pretty hands-off. For rental properties, we do offer on-site service calls if your guests need help and you're not around.

How much does it cost?

We price per job. Every smart home is different and pricing will vary on consultation, installation and hardware purchases. As we grow, we aim to offer easy-to-price bundles.

Do you offer a maintenance service plan?

We hope to soon. We envision plans that covers ongoing device maintenance, remote support, and on-site visits in situations like rentals.
